Boulder County web design

Small-business websites built here, by the person you actually hire.

I'm James Lerner, based in Niwot. I plan, write, design and build websites for Boulder County businesses that need more than a nicer homepage: they need to be found, understood and contacted from a phone.

The actual job

A website has to answer the buyer before it impresses the owner.

A local customer usually arrives with a short list of questions: do you handle my problem, do you work where I live, can I trust you, and what should I do next? If the answers are buried under a slideshow, a slogan or a menu built around the company org chart, the customer leaves.

I start with those questions. The copy, page structure, mobile layout and calls to action are built together around the decision a customer is trying to make. The result should feel specific to the business because it is—not a template with a logo and a town name dropped into it.

That matters across Boulder County. A contractor serving Longmont and Erie, a professional practice in Boulder and an appointment business in Lafayette may all need a website, but they do not have the same buying path. The structure should reflect the real customer, service area and next step.

What gets built

Strategy, copy, design and launch—not four separate handoffs.

One person handles the whole path, so the promise in the first line still matches the form, the mobile layout and the search result at the end.

01 · Clarify

Positioning and copy

The site says what you do, where you do it and why a customer should trust you—without making claims the business cannot prove.

  • Customer and competitor review
  • Page structure based on search intent
  • Copy written with you, not assigned to you
  • Real services, proof and constraints

02 · Convert

Mobile-first design

The first screen explains the business. Calling, booking or requesting a quote stays obvious without turning every paragraph into a sales pitch.

  • Responsive layout for phone through desktop
  • Accessible navigation and readable type
  • Tap-to-call, booking or quote path
  • Real-photo direction instead of stock filler

03 · Be found

Search foundation

Technical work cannot manufacture authority, but it can make every page easy for search engines to crawl, understand and present correctly.

  • Titles, descriptions and canonical URLs
  • Structured data where it is truthful
  • Sitemap, redirects and indexing setup
  • Fast pages with no unnecessary scripts

Work you can inspect

The reasoning is published with the finished site.

The case studies show what was built, why it was structured that way, the tradeoffs and what can actually be measured.

Process

Five steps. Two to three weeks.

You know what happens next, what I need from you and what is being delivered before a deposit changes hands.

01

Call

Twenty minutes, free. I'll have looked at your site and listing first; you tell me what's broken and what a good month looks like.

02

Diagnosis & scope

A written account of what's costing you customers, and a one-page scope with a fixed price and a date. Work starts only after you approve it.

03

Build

Design and copy together. You see the homepage first, under the guarantee, while changing direction is still cheap.

04

Launch

I handle the domain, hosting, redirects and indexing. You get every file and a short video on updating the site yourself.

05

Measure

Calls, forms and where they came from, in one page a month.

Fixed-price web design

See the first design before the commitment becomes final.

The Starter website is $2,400 and the Growth build is $4,800. Both include a written scope and fixed price before work begins. You pay a deposit, see the homepage design and can stop for a full deposit refund if the direction is wrong.

Boulder County web design FAQ

Questions before the first call.

Where in Boulder County do you work?

I'm based in Niwot and work with businesses in Niwot, Boulder, Longmont, Louisville, Lafayette, Erie and elsewhere in Boulder County. Projects can be handled in person where practical or over video calls.

How much does a small-business website cost?

The Starter build is $2,400 for up to five pages. The Growth build is $4,800 and adds service-area search work, photography direction, email setup, review workflow, measurement and 90 days of post-launch tuning. Larger sites and custom tools receive a written fixed quote.

How long does a website take to build?

A typical local-business site takes two to three weeks after the written scope is approved and the initial deposit is paid. Custom tools, ecommerce or substantial migrations take longer and receive their own schedule.

Will I own the website and domain?

Yes. The domain stays registered in your name, and you own the site, copy and files. If you leave, I hand over the work and help the next provider get oriented.

Can you help an existing website instead of replacing it?

Yes. The first step is diagnosis, not redesign. If the current platform is sound, the better answer may be clearer copy, a repaired mobile path, new service pages, technical cleanup or better measurement rather than a complete rebuild.

Do you guarantee first-page Google rankings?

No. No responsible web designer can guarantee an organic ranking. I build the technical and content foundation, document what was changed and measure what follows. Authority, competition, reviews, links and time still affect where a site appears.
